Due to my absence on Thursday and Friday of last week, we are taking the first part of this week to complete the lessons I had scheduled. New lesson plans will be posted tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
7th grade is working on learning to "close read" passages in order to gain a deeper understanding of the information they are processing. In addition, they are improving their writing communication by answering detailed questions to show their understanding of what is being read. We will also be focusing on prepositions and phrases in the next couple of weeks. 7th grade is really struggling with their phrases, so we are going to take some time to review that concept, so that we can move on to the expectations for their grade level. As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

We will hit the ground running this week with a short story, vocabulary, and grammar review. Our first test will be Friday, and it will cover the short story "Rogue Wave" that students will complete this week. In addition to reading, there will be a few comprehension activities to complete as well. By Friday, students should have no problem with their test.
There will be homework this week, so please make sure you check Google Classroom daily for any additional updates or help pages that may be posted. It is with both excitement and a little bit of difficulty (just a little) that we bring summer to a close and begin another wonderful school year.
There are many things that I look forward to sharing with you this year in ELA, but, most importantly, I look forward to getting to know each of you. We have a very busy year ahead, so please come visit us on Wednesday, August 4th from 6-8 PM to learn what is in store for you this year as a seventh grader.I look forward to seeing each of you there! |
Mrs. Smith's 7th Grade ELALanguage Arts is, along with mathematics, one of the primary subjects in our education. Without language arts, we would lack the skills to communicate adequately or to analyze and process information that is provided. In 7th grade, we will work on building those skills through grammar, writing, and reading. Archives
