Students who scored below an 80 on the last test have been given a test retake opportunity. They should have come home on Friday with a "Request to Retake" form for parents to sign.
5th Period will retake after school on Tuesday, September 27 from 3:30 to 4:30 6th Period will retake after school on Thursday, September 29 from 3:45 to 4:45 Students who do not return a completed and signed form will not be allowed to stay to take the test. In the future, I will expect students to study materials sent home to adequately prepare for tests. Students should not expect a retake opportunity in the future. This week, 7th grade will begin our first novel of the year. We will be reading Peak by Roland Smith. This book goes along with our Bold Actions unit that we have been covering in reading.
Students will continue to review and work toward higher skills in grammar and writing as well. We have been concentrating on prepositional phrases and identifying clauses. IXL assignment for this week is Level I: N.3,Q.1,Q.2,DD.1,DD.2 and it is due on Monday 9/19. I will take the average of the grades for the 5 exercises, but each exercise must reach a score of 80, or it is considered incomplete! IXL is a recorded as a quiz grade. Next Wednesday, 9/21, we will have a test that will cover both reading as well as grammar/writing. Study guides will go home on Monday 9/19 and will be due on Tuesday. We will go over them on Tuesday, to make sure students have correct information from which to study. |
Mrs. Smith's 7th Grade ELALanguage Arts is, along with mathematics, one of the primary subjects in our education. Without language arts, we would lack the skills to communicate adequately or to analyze and process information that is provided.
