I'm sure many of you have noticed that I have not updated the lesson plan for this week as of yet. Due to my absence last Thursday and Friday, we are using Monday-Wednesday of this week to complete those assignments that were originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday of last week. New plans will be posted before tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
8th grade is focusing on culture in ELA. We are reading several selections that involve immigration into the United States. We have completed three so far, and have done several mini projects and assignments for each. Tomorrow, we will finish up and present our personal immigration mini project. Each student was asked to research one place from which someone in their family originated. I'm seeing a lot of neat places and facts so far!

We are entering into a very busy week here in ELA. 8th grade will be completing several comprehension tasks to go with the short story we completed last week.
In addition, we are continuing to review our parts of speech and grammar concepts. Our first "graded" DGP will be next week. Please remember to check the Google Classroom daily! It is almost time! I can't believe that summer is coming to an end and school is beginning again. There is so much that I can't wait to share with all of you this year. We have new books to read, an entirely new ELA curriculum, and lots of great classroom activities to put into play.
I look forward to meeting everyone on Wednesday, August 4th at our Odyssey meet and greet. There will be lots of things to learn about for the upcoming school year, so please come if you can! |
